Cold Water Therapy

Everyone seems to have caught on to cold water therapy, thanks to Wim Hoff and all the podcasts doing the rounds, but we decided to look into the benefits a bit further and how this simple act could be great for our libido and ultimately, our relationships.

Cold water therapy is a type of hydrotherapy that involves immersing the body in cold water. This is usually done in a cold plunge pool, or by taking cold showers or ice baths, or if you live in Cape Town, almost exclusively, Saunders Pool. Cold water can cause significant physiological responses in the body, such as increased circulation, improved muscle recovery, and enhanced immune system response.

We usually think about 10 minutes is a good amount to get the knock on benefits.

If we take a look at Testosterone, it’s the primary male sex hormone and androgen in males and in humans, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as testicles and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.

But what does testosterone have to do with cold water? Well, cold water therapy can increase testosterone levels which can result in improving sexual health having a positive impact on intimate relationships. Men who have higher levels of testosterone usually find an improved sexual functioning and performance, men with higher testosterone levels also show higher levels of sexual desire and satisfaction. Cold water therapy can lead to increased feelings of confidence and assertiveness. This can lead to improved communication and better relationships with partners.

So there you have it, a logical link between cold water, testosterone, libido and hot sex.
