How to get you sex toys through airport security
Holiday season is among us.
Warm weather, calm oceans, dripping ice cream and of course some heat in the bedroom. It’s holiday season for the lucky ones who get to escape our winter and jet-set off to Europe to take advantage of the warm summer days.
And for those of us who aren’t travelling just yet, keep this article in your back pocket for that day that you do start to pack your bags for a holiday that involves flying somewhere. Because a little vibe may want to join too, for solo play, couples play and all round just making things a bit more fun and interesting.
But you may have wondered, how can you take your vibrator through the airport without causing a scene at security. We’ve all seen that video, you know the one, where the security’s face just melts as he opens up a traveller's bag to find a huge pink dildo. Love it.
But seriously, here is what the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) had to say on vibrators at the airport:
Most are allowed in carry-on or checked bags depending on the type of product and if they are battery operated. Battery operated toys that use traditional non-rechargeable batteries (AA, AAA, etc) can go in checked or carry-on bags. If you’ve gone high-tech and have an item that is rechargeable, it likely has a lithium ion battery. Thanks to guidance from our friends at the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), anything with a lithium ion battery must go in your carry-on bag.
As always, if anything alarms, requiring additional inspection while at the checkpoint, and you feel like the item the officer could retrieve from your bag will be a bit, ummm sensitive, you may ask the TSA officer for a private screening.
We have also done some research and have listed a few tips below on how to get your “loved ones” through airport security.
Packing light is not only applicable to your clothes and shoes but also to your vibrators. A lipstick or bullet vibrator is perfect to place in an inner suitcase pocket and will avoid a huge mysterious object showing up on the airport security monitor.
If your vibrator is battery operated, remove the batteries. On the other hand if your vibrator is rechargeable, run the charge out beforehand, this will give you more time with your vibe pre-trip, yes please.
If your toy came with a bag, keep it in there because it's cute. But our sources say that a clear plastic bag will actually assist the screeners seeing exactly what is inside without getting their hands all over your vibe. So that’s also an option.
Cool, calm, and collected. There is nothing wrong with travelling with a vibrator, so don’t act like anything is weird, else the airport security will pick this up, as that is what they essentially trained to do.
The furthest this check through the airport can go, is for the security to take out your vibrator and ask you some questions. Own it, this shows how comfortable you are with your sexuality and your pleasure and that is awesome!
We always recommend having some water based lube on hand with your vibrator, as lube just makes everything better! We advise keeping it 100ml or less for carry-on bags as this is in line with airport security.
Some countries, like India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, have restrictions on sex toys. Make sure you are aware of such countries if that is where you plan on travelling.
Other than that, have a great vacation.
Yes, pleazzzzzzzzzzzzze.
