Quick, before it’s too late
We’re a few weeks into 2024, so we thought we’d take a quick trip down memory lane and reflect on what we’ve accomplished in our 1 year of being around before jumping into another year of goal setting.
Looking back to January 2023 feels like a lifetime ago. We kicked the year off with our very first collaboration with Pienaar & Sons to bring you the now well known and loved ‘Please Aphrodisiac Aperitif’ which we launched just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Then in February we hosted our very first IRL event with Duck Duck Goose where we sipped on aperitif, danced with some friends of Please who brought the beats, and launched our Please x Good Good Good ‘Yes, Please.’ Tee which is 100% my fave tee (perhaps I’m a touch biassed) and still available to shop by the way.
March was a month of new products launched onto Pleasesex.com. We launched Smile Makers, one of our most loved brands. Yes, the ones with those cute smiley faces you click to turn on (and we are so proud to be the only online sex shop in South Africa to sell them.)
We launched our own Please wipes. The pleasure is all mine.
Tenga, who designs incredible toys for penis owners, was another brand we welcomed to the shop in March.
We ended off a busy month with a busy weekend, popping up in real life yet again, this time at Retreat Yourself, a wellness festival just outside of Cape Town, which we can’t wait to go back to next month.
Please x HONEST Chocolate was a fun project we worked on for Retreat Yourself actually, and is still available to shop. If you haven’t tried it yet, we highly recommend you do!
‘Yes, please.’ socks? Yes, please! These classic tube socks went live in April, and we also started stocking our Please range at Spar in Seapoint Cape Town as well as Paradise Cosmetics.
Please founders saw the snow in Joburg while working with their leather manufacturers working on their first few leather essentials; Collar & Chains, Cuffs & Ankle Cuffs and a paddle of course would mark the first drop of Please Leather.
We also welcomed Puissante to the shop in June which is absolutely one of our top selling brands today, and teamed up with Aurora Wellbeing and The Movement Lab for an empowering morning of sexual wellness and fitness.
We then popped up for the first time at The Sex Expo in Cape Town, and it was a wild and successful experience. It also happened to be Please founders Mira & Greg’s very first time at any Sexpo ever, ironically.
Once Mira completely lost her voice after talking too much at the Sexpo, she hopped onto Dani Wallace’s podcast Time for Us to chat candidly about starting Please and so much more.
In July, Please founders Mira & Greg were photographed and featured in Fairlady for the July Issue and we also collaborated with The Gorgeous George Hotel to host our very first ‘Popcorn Please.’ A movie night in, hosted by Please, where the vibes are perfectly mellow and the popcorn is free.
Please teamed up with Aurora Well Being and Caprice for a Women’s Day Brunch. It was a morning filled with Mimosas, delicious pastries, an educational talk with a sexologist and of course some time to shop at our Please Pop Up.
In September ‘Popcorn, Please.’ popped up for Vol. 2. Yes, it’s an ongoing event that will definitely keep going and will happen every other month or so, so keep a look out for the next one.
The Best Blog chatted to one of our Please founders, Mira about all things Please, being an entrepreneur and everything in between. You can read that interview here.
In October, Please popped up at Pangea, where The Happy Couple also threw a wedding in the chapel, soundcloud here, then packed up and flew to Johannesburg for the JHB SEXPO. Again a very wild experience. We highly recommend attending at least one in your life.
We also had the opportunity to ask a sexologist all the questions you hoped we would, with the incredible Sexologist, Catriona Boffard, which you can read here.
November was the month we launched our delicious collaboration with OKRA, we celebrated our 1st birthday, and all this while planning a wedding!
What a year. Thank you for the love and the support. We have so much more we want to do and achieve, so we can’t wait for another year of Please! and Thank you!
